PV Proposed Budget Calls For 4.1% Tax IncreaseAt the last school board meeting business manager Donna Les reported an anticipated 5.44 mill increase in next years budget. For example, a resident paying $3,000 per year in property taxes will see a $123 increase. Calculations indicate the total anticipated budget will be just over $93 million.
The collection rate, or percentage of actual taxes collected for the school district by the county, was reported at only 92.5%, down from nearly 97% when taxes were privately collected by Portnoff in prior years. This equates to over $2 million in uncollected taxes, putting an increased burden on those who are paying taxes.
